The Big Ten plus 4

The Big Ten returns to its roots in Chicago on Wednesday after a stupid year in New York chasing footprints. Michigan State is the 1-seed. Purdue, Michigan and Wisconsin secured the other double byes.

The big game is Thursday morning between Ohio State and Indiana. This should be a de facto elimination game. It may not be, but it should be. Minnesota is the 7-seed and gets a pesky Penn State team on Thursday as well. A loss here will probably make for a nervous Sunday for the Gophers. Iowa should be in but they aren’t trending well and don’t want a bad loss to eithe Northwestern or Illinois.

The top of the league is playing for seeding. Michigan State can probably get a 1-seed if they run the table. That would mean wins over UW/Maryland and probably Purdue/UM if chalk holds. Basically, the top 4 can add 3 high quality wins.

The Pick: Michigan State- This team keeps winning against teams not named Indiana. They won’t lose to Indiana a third time if they meet again. Nick Ward should be back as well
