A-10 and Some

The A-10 starts conference tournament play on Wednesday from Brooklyn. Remember when this league got 5 teams into the dance in 2013? That was neat.

The 1-seed is VCU. They finished 16-2 in league and are on a 12-game winning streak. There only two losses came at Rhode Island and Davidson. I’d think they’re a lock, win or lose here. They also have a win over Temple and a road win at Texas. They’re 32nd in KenPom.

The only other KenPom top 100 teams are the 2 and 3 seeds respectively, Davidson and Dayton. Davidson is the 2-seed and 75th overall. Dayton is the 3 and 58th in KenPom. I’d imagine if they meet in the semi-finals, the loser would have a hard time making the tournament. Dayton definitely has to make the A-10 final.

The rest of the league is pretty meh. They’re behind the SoCon in KenPom conference rankings for a reason. There is enough in the middle of the league to be a problem this week and potentially steal a bid but the league would probably like to see VCU playing one of Dayton or Davidson in the final.

The Pick: Davidson - Sentinmental pick, so buyer beware. There 4 conference losses have been by a total of 10 and that includes a 10-point loss to LaSalle
