Wednesday Bids and Conference Tournaments

One bid going out tonight:

Patriot – 4. Lafayette vs 6. American – Play In City Baby!

9 Conferences Kick Off Today.  Here’s a preview of the first couple:

Conference USA
#1 Seed – Louisiana Tech
Team Most Likely to Upset #1 Seed – Old Dominion
ODU is the only team with a real shot at an at-large bid and they would almost certainly have to make the final and please well.  Louisiana Tech is an intriguing team but I think ODU has the better chance to make a splash in the NCAA’s

Big 12
#1 Seed – Kansas
Team Most Likely to Upset #1 Seed – Iowa State, Oklahoma, Baylor, or West Virginia
A lot of these teams have been playing well down the stretch and I could see any of the top 5 seeds winning it.  All of them are top 5 seeds in the NCAA and should probably remain there no matter what happens

Mountain West
#1 Seed – Boise State
Team Most Likely to Upset #1 Seed – Colorado State
Yep, you don’t see San Diego State there.  They are a lock for the tournament but Boise State has been on fire and Colorado State just isn’t getting respect.  Their computer numbers are a bit inflated but they are a solid team that seems to still be on the bubble.

Big East
#1 Seed – Villanova
Team Most Likely to Upset #1 Seed – The winner of the Butler/Xavier game

It’s likely that that the Big East gets 6 teams in the tournament.  In fact, it’s almost a lock.  St. John’s is a tricky team to figure out but I really like this Xavier team.  I think if they can get by Butler, which won’t be easy they can take out Georgetown and give Nova’ a run.
