Bracket Buster: Yale

The second of our bracket busters are the Yale Bulldogs, making their first dance since 1962. I think they'll be a popular pick to win a game like UNI.

Yale doesn't have a very impressive schedule. They ripped through the Ivy League but didn't beat anyone outside of conference, so is be leery of how they handle a more talented squad.

They're 90th in KenPom on offense and 21st on defense. They turn it over a lot on offense, 294th worst. They shoot 37.1% from deep, with an effective fg% of 52.5%, 60th. They board the bejesus out of misses. The Bulldogs rebound 39.2 of available boards, 7th best.

On defense, opponents only have an effective fg% of 46.3%, 39th best. They also clean the glass on defense. Opponents only get 24% of misses, making the Bulldogs 8th best.

The player to know is Justin Sears. He averages 15.8 & 7.5. Sophomore Makai Mason also scores 15.8ppg.

Team captain Jack Montague left the team last month and since then, there's been accusations of sexual assault leveled against the team and one of its players. It doesn't seem to have affected them on the court but it'll be a story when the tournament starts.

Yale can certainly steal a game but they don't strike me as one of the better Ivy teams of recent vintage.
