79: Duke 95 Maryland 84, 2001 National Semifinals
Maryland jumped all over the Blue Devils taking an early 39-17 lead and the rest they say, is, history. Duke stormed all the way back eventually winning by 11 in one of the geratest comebacks ever.
78: Vermont 60 Syracuse 57, 2005 1st Round
Syracuse had just ran through the Big East tournament and had some pundits proclaiming them a Final Four team. The Catamounts would have none of it as TJ Sorrentine would hit a 30' with about a minute left to help seal the upset.
77: Old Dominion 89 Villanova 81, 1995 1st Round
Petey Sessoms was fouled with 18.9 seconds left and the Monarchs down 3 in regulation. Sessoms cooly hit all 3 and Villanova missed a game winner and 3 putbacks sending the game to ovt. It would take 3 electric extra periods but Sessoms and ODU emerged with the 14-3 upset.
76: Arizona 96 Gonzaga 95, 2003 2nd Round
Remember this game? I don't because I was nearly blacked out but the Wildcats held on in 2 ovts and survived Blake Stepp's last second putback
75: Weber State 76 North Carolina 74, 1999 1st Round
Harold "The Show" Arceneaux pours in 36 to lead Weber State past the Tar Heels in one of the more stunning upsets in tourney history.
74: Idaho 69 Iowa 67, 1982 1st Round
Idaho SR. Brian Kellerman hits a buzzer beater game winner as the Vandals shock the Hawkeyes. Idaho was coached by relative unknown, Don Monson.
73: West Virginia 75 Cincinnati 74, 1998 2nd Round
The Mountaineers who had missed the previous 5 tourneys won in a rout in round one to set up a game against 2-seed Cincinnati. WVU led 72-68 with 1:26 left but Cincy's D'Juan Baker made a 3 and after a WVU miss, Baker hit another 3 with 7.1 seconds left giving Cincy a 74-72 lead. Jarrod West of WVU took the inbounds and drove for a game winning 3. His shot was partially blocked by Ruben Patterson who may have kept the ball from sailing over the backboard. The ball banked off the backboard and in for the game winning last second 3.
72: West Virginia 111 Wake Forest 105, 2005 Second Round
WVU had just won a thriller in round 1 over Creighton and upset the Demon Deacons and Chris Paul in double overtime.
71: Indiana State 73 Arkansas 71, 1979 Elite 8
WIth Larry Bird double teamed, Bob Heaton threw in a wild left-handed layup at the buzzer to shock the Razorbacks and send Indiana State to the Final Four where March first went mad
