Huggins' Student Athletes

One of the teams that piqued my interest this year was West Virginia who has been touted as a Final Four contender by some. Do they measure up? Well, as of tonight, they rank 5th in RPI and 3rd in SOS.

They have five losses and 4 of them are to top 14 RPI teams. The lone exception is a road loss to Notre Dame, hardly a terrible loss. They have quality wins at home over Ohio State & Ole Miss and nice neutral court wins over Texas A&M and Portland.

They don't shoot particularly well or defend from the field (middle of the pack in both) that well but are inside the top 30 of AdjD. What they do well is, rebound (12th), protect the ball (35th) and share it well (16th). Huggy Bear has some nice depth and has 4 players averaging double digits in scoring.

Huggins has done well as the coach of WVU in March and he has the ingredients to be successful again. And who deserves success more than the cuddly, Huggy Bear?
