The Southern Conference begins its tournament tomorrow in college basketball hotbed Asheville, NC. Looking for a mid-major tournament that can be a lot of fun? This might be the one.

UNC-Greensboro enters the tournament as the 1-seed. They’re also 87th in KenPom, the highest rated of all conference teams. 2-seed East Tennessee State is 94th in KenPom. 3-seed Furman is 92nd in KenPom. Let’s hope the final includes 2 of these teams. 

The drop comes quick as the 4 and 5 seeds, Mercer and Wofford are 136th and 175th. Mercer did split with Greensboro in the regular season, so a potential semifinal matchup would test UNCG.
