And some analysts think this is the best conference in the country. Oregon continues the trend of losing as soon as they are in the last 4 and thus are banished from the tournament. In addition, South Alabama beat Western Kentucky to claim the auto-bid. Western Kentucky's profile isn't good enough to get an at large so that means there are two open spots. The first goes to Umass which got a huge road win over Rhode Island. Combine that with their 31st ranked RPI just gets them in. The last spot is claimed back by Baylor who did nothing to deserve it but had the highest RPI of the last 4 out. Look for them to lose this weekend now that they are in.
Be sure to check out Winthorp-Davidson on ESPN2 tonight as these are two teams currently winning their conferences and definately can make some noise come March. Davidson probably needs this more since they would be on the bubble if they don't win their conference tournament. Should be a good game.
