Saturday early evening musings...

- After IU and Michigan smoked their opponents on Wednesday night, I kicked around the idea of going to tonight's game in Bloomington. Then I saw tickets on average were going for $660. Ended that thought fast.

- What happened to FSU? Duke came out today and absolutely crushed them. Duke won by 19 at FSU and it wasn't that close. Didn't think they'd repeat last year's run but they've been very disappointing thus far.

- Dan Bonner said he was impressed by how UNC handled being down to Virginia Tech early at home today as the Heels won in overtime by 12. Dan, should Carolina be praised for handling Virginia Tech at home after early adversity? I know they're not vintage Carolina but sheesh.

- Miami may have clinched the ACC with a last second win at NC State today. Along with Florida, Miami is the last undefeated team in a BCS conference. Beginning to think like Brian this may be a team to make a deep run in the dance.

- Kansas lost at home to a feisty Oklahoma State team. It was only Bill Self's 8th career loss at Phog Allen. OSU dominated the offensive glass late in the game getting a lot of 2nd chance points and got good games from a number of players. Self has ben critical of his team in recent weeks and after today, he might be listened to. Elijah Johnson and co. were loose with the ball late.

- Cal beats Oregon at home sending the Ducks to a second straight loss. Oregon is playing without PG Dominic Artis. The Pac-12 is a hot mess. Colorado also lost to Utah today.

- Speaking of hot messes, Syracuse lost at Pitt today putting Marquette into 1st place alone in the Big East. I'm guessing it lasts all of 24 hours but if you had the Eagles in 1st on Groundhog's Day, well, you're probably a homer.
