Big West
The Big West tournament tips-off Thursday in Anaheim, CA. UC-Irvine won the regular season title. They’re 106th in KenPom. The only other top 200 KenPom team is UC-Santa Barbara.
This Anteater team isn’t as good as last years team but they continue an impressive stretch of very good seasons. Have to think Russell Turner deserves a shot a bigger job. If they come out of this league, they’ll be a pest for someone in the first round.
The Pick: UC-Irvine
WAX
The WAC tournament also tips-off on Thursday. All games will be played in Las Vegas, the college basketball capital of the west. New Mexico State won the league, going 16-0. 2nd place Cal Baptist finished 10-6. NMSU is 91st in KenPom.
The Aggies will have to win the tournament to dance. They didn’t do anything out of conference outside a win against Colorado State. No other team is in the KenPom top 200. Like UC-Irvine, New Mexico State has been an impressive program for awhile now and won’t be an easy out in the first round, regardless of seed.
