Brian has the Ducks up to a 4-seed which matches where KenPom has them, 16th. The Ducks are 18-4 with all the losses on the road. Oddly, two of them are to Mountain West schools, UNLV & Boise State and then at Oregon State and Colorado. Outside league play, their best win was at home over Baylor.
They are 10th in offensive efficiency. They have an effective fg% of 52.5%, 63rd. They're okay protecting the ball, 91st in turnover %. 17.2%. The Ducks are a solid offensive rebounding team, getting 34.5% of their misses which is 49th.
They are 58th in defensive efficiency. Opponents have an effective fg% of 47.8, 95th. They force turnovers at a rate of 21.2%, 36th. Their steal % is a robust 11.1%, 22nd. They are not a good defensive rebounding team. Defensive rebounding % is a weak 31.7%, 259th. They are the 2nd best team at blocking shots with a 15.6% block rate. Senior big man Chris Boucher has a 13.1% block rate, 3rd in the nation.
Sophomore Dillon Brooks plays the most minutes and is the leading scorer at 16ppg. He also adds 6.2rpg. He shoots too many 3's and is only 29% from deep but shoots 53% from 2. Senior F Elgin Cook adds 13.5ppg and 4.5rpg. Cook does a good job getting to the foul line where he shoots 76%. Frosh guard Tyler Dorsey has been a solid player. He's averaging 13.5ppg and is 42% from 3. Casey Benson doesn't score much but is a solid guard who protects the ball.
The Ducks have a shot to win the Pac-12 and position themselves nicely for March. I can't comment much on what's happened there on Dana Altman's watch but he can certainly coach. Right now, they project as a Sweet 16 team.
