Arizona

As the sun sets in the west, the Arizona Wildcats find themselves atop the Pac-12 standings. Not the same team as the last two years, Arizona is still a team capable of a deep run next month. They're up to 12 in KenPom and trending up.

Unlike the past two years, this Wildcats team has been more efficient on offense than defense. They're currently 17th in AdjustedO and 32nd in AdjustedD.

On offense, they have an effective fg% of 54.6%, 25th best. They shoot 37.5% from deep and 53.9% from 2. They're a decent offensive rebounding team, 34.7%, 40th best. The Wildcats can get to the line as well. They're 13th best at getting there. They can be sloppy with the ball. They have a turnover % of 18.2%, 169th. Freshman Allonzo Trier missed time with an injury but despite his youth, he protects the ball better than his teammates. Let's see if that number doesn't get better with him back.

Defensively, opponents have an effective fg% of 46.5%, 47th best. They were best in that category in 2014 and 25th last year. They don't foul. They're 23rd in FTA/FGA. They are also the best at not allowing offensive rebounds. Opponents have a rebounding rate of 22%. That's best in the land.

Ryan Anderson, the BC transfer leads the team in scoring and has been fantastic. He adds muscle on the boards as well.  Senior Gabe York shoots 42% from deep and scores 14.7ppg. Senior big man Kaleb Tarczewski is back from injury and averages just short of a double-double. Him and Anderson are monsters on the defensive glass. Kadeem Allen is a jack-of-all trades type player who has been a valuable addition after sitting out last year.

The guy that stirs the drink though, is Allonzo Trier, the fabulous freshmen. Trier is their second leading scorer. Trier has a chance to be a breakout player next month.

Brian has them on the 4-line as of right now. My guess is, they can work their way all the way up to the 2-line out West. They're a team capable of making the Final Four. At worst, this is a second weekend team.
