America East
The Vermont Invitational begins tomorrow night, with all games played on campus sites. You know, we’ve been saying Vermont is a bracket buster for like a decade now and then they don’t bust any brackets. They’re 99th in KenPom, so they’re like a legit threat to shock someone. They went 15-1 in league with their only loss an inexplicable loss at NJIT.
UMass-Lowell finished 2nd and is 153 in KenPom. Bryant finished 3rd and is 179. 5 of the remaining 6 teams are 260+. The pick is Vermont but they ain’t fooling me come tourney time.
Big Sky
The Big Sky tips off from Boise tomorrow night for you late night degenerates. Eastern Washington won the regular season title and is 140th in KenPom. Worth noting they’re 4th in the nation in effective fg%. Should they win this and get matched up against a poor defensive team, well, just saying.
Second best KenPom team is Weber State. The Smokey Joe’s are 147 and finished 4th in the league, setting up a possible matchup against EWU in the semi’s. It would be a good game.
Montana and Northern Colorado finished T-2 and are 155 and 190 in KenPom. I’ll pick Weber State but kind of want to see Eastern Washington possible play Illinois or Baylor
