Going to double or triple these conference tournament previews up this year so we don’t bury Brian’s brackets and bubble game wrote-ups.
Atlantic Sun
All games are played at the higher seed. Liberty is the prohibitive favorite. They are currently 69th in KenPom. They split the regular season title with North Florida after the Flames lost at Lipscomb yesterday. North Florida is 151st in KenPom. No other team is in the top 200 of KenPom. The league wants Liberty or North Florida to win because no one else can win a game in March.
The Pick: North Florida
Big South
All games are played at the higher seed. Winthrop and Radford split the regular season title. They each won on the road in their head-to-head matchups. Winthrop is the slight favorite. They’re 145th in KenPom and Radford is 175th. Winthrop finished 3-3 in league play while Radford lost to Gardner-Webb yesterday denying them an outright regular season title. Radford owns a win over bubble team Richmond. Winthrop has a win over St. Mary’s.
Gardner-Webb is the only other team in the KenPom top 250. Both Winthrop and Radford could be pesky teams in an opening round game of the Big Dance.
