Bubble Update

Both Alabama and Baylor fall out of today's bracket. I can't make a case for two teams with RPI's in the 70's and 80's getting an at-large bid. They are still in the conversation but they are out for now. Replacing them are Memphis, RPI in the mid 30's and Michigan, who's getting a lot of national love for a road win over Minnesota. Frankly, I'm not buying Michigan and I expect them to fall out and not get a bid. I'd be keeping an eye on Colorado State and Clemson over the next couple of days. Both have huge opportunities against Duke and San Diego State to play themselves into the bracket.

That's Not Recommended

Alabama and Baylor, both in the bracket today lose, BIG, tonight. First, let's look at Alabama's resume. An 87 RPI, an awful SOS, and most of their wins against garbage team. I really believe that they will be out come tomorrow morning. That 11-4 SEC record only means so much. Secondly, we have the most under-achieving team this side of Michigan State, Baylor. I think they've been the last 4 teams in and out for the past month. This latest loss to Oklahoma State almost puts the nail in the coffin. They'll need to do some damage in the Big 12 tournament now.

Down Right Awful

If you can still find it within yourself to cheer for Marquette after watching this video you're a far better man than me.

Jerry Palm is a Tool

In case you don't know who Jerry Palm is, he's CBS Sportline's equivalent to ESPN's Joe Lunardi. You'd think he'd at least be close on his bracket by this time of the year but alas, he's not. His site was updated Sunday night with his in and out of the bracket.

Currently he has these teams as his first four OUT:

Butler - top 45 RPI
Clemson - no argument here
Drexel - the Colonial's 5 seed is 3 away from being in?
Virginia Tech - apparently beating Duke and being 9-5 in the ACC doesn't mean much

These are his last 4 IN:

Gonzaga - seems reasonable
VCU - the 3rd place team in the Colonial is a reach at best
Minnesota - 6-10 in the Big Ten and losers of 6 of 7
Dayton - 7-7 in the freaking Atlantic 10 and an RPI in the mid 60's

How the heck can you take a guy seriously with a bracket like this? Not to mention he has Colorado State safely in.

It's March!

The most happiest time of the year. As for last night's games, only 2 were of any note. Notre Dame continues to pour it on, looking like a solid #2 seed. The blowout over Villanova gives them another loss and they continue to fall (a projected 6/7 seed now). In the other Big Monday matchup Kansas State hands Texas their third loss in the last 4 games. Texas is looking like a 3 seed now while Kansas State is a lock at this point. K-State has been on a tear going 7-1 since Wally Judge quit the team in January.
